Yay!! Holiday time!!
this year I am really excited because I am becoming an uncle!!!
It's a great Christmas gift! I just pray the lord brings the baby
through safely and that we all get to eat tons of food together
as a family!

UPDATE!

I've been pretty busy with life again lately, who isn't!!!
My father has been in and out of the hospital, sister is giving birth this Dec.(in just a few weeks!!)
I'm trying to find more WORK and I'm doing a lot of web design and graphic design!
Finally I got a phone call about some freelance! Thank you LORD!! Here's the end product.
It's not my best work but it was nice to not only get to illustrate and get paid for it again but also work with Barry Greyson again. So as for the illustrations, what is it all about!!?? Use your imagination! CHECK OUT MY SKETCH BLOG TOO! You can find a link for it to the left!

That time of the year...

Yes it's time for my favorite season and ONE of my favorite holidays, Halloween! Sadly I've been too busy this year to create several new paintings celebrating this time of the year but I have a few quickies that I've done over the past few weeks. Hopefully you guys enjoy them and HOPEFULLY I'll get something real ghastly up for you soon! Again the scans of these images are poor but it will have to do for now!

Here's a little illustration I did for a children's book illustration club I belong to on Deviant Art.
The theme was MOON and of course that's some of my favorite subject matter that I don't paint enough of. Full moon on the beach that is one of my favorite things to do, yup...I know I'm corny.

It's time for Mr.Sorrentino to take a break. I'll be on a much needed short vacation, so I'll be away from the blog for a SHORT period of time. Rough Draft

Heres a color rough of a Humberto piece I'm doing in watercolor. Although this isn't a very complete or a full finished illustration, it was still fun. Also this was good photoshop practice for me and I thought it was time to take my concepts and put them in more of an environment. SO heres the first part of the process, I thought I would get opinions first as well, about composition, color, and tone. Let me know what you think!

Recently I've decided to give Photoshop another try and I have been pretty pleased with the result. Also I have been using Acrylic Inks instead of watercolors and I am having fun with those as well, so hear is the new stuff. Hope you enjoy!

umbrella series

Heres some new work. I've decided to do a series of paintings involving fantasy settings and umbrellas. I see a lot of illustrators doing pin up style work of women in sexy poses. So I guess in a nutshell this is my response. It's a shame the scan of these pieces aren't of quality but it's the best I can do for now. Honestly the fun part of this series besides the shapes are the liberties, the freedom that fantasy illustration can offer. The liberties of distorting the real, such as proportions of the body. Longer necks, legs and faces! Fun stuff. Hopefully you enjoy, I have a lot of work to add but decided to take my time posting.

Life has been quite busy, with lots to do. SO I'll share with you some of the things
I've been up to! Hope you enjoy!
First I'd like to share some of the process work and test pieces for my second picture book.

That piece was done in ink and watercolor, I will also create some test pieces with just watercolor with limited line work and some done in CRAYON!

Speaking of crayon, heres some color studies I've done, I loved working on them with the crayons and will be using crayon much more now ;) I'm just a big boy anyway so it's ok.

Next up is TAD he's the main character from the third picture book I am working on

Next I have some characters that I have been playing around with for fun, I want to color them

but try something different. Perhaps a media I don't use often like Illustrator, any ideas??
